About Your Hosts
This apartment belongs to an artist and an alpinist. The name is ours, but the story is older than us.
The family who owned this place before us had a painter for a mother and a mountaineer for a father. When we discovered that, something fell into place. Some valleys seem to attract certain kinds of people across generations, and this one has long drawn those who need both beauty and altitude, both the made thing and the wild one.
One of us makes things with her hands, working across materials and forms, from sculptural objects to artisanal bread, always drawn to the tactile and the tangible. The other reads mountains the way some people read landscapes, always looking for the next line. We found this valley because of the peaks and stayed because of the light. The same light that Titian carried with him to Venice, the memory of these mountains and this particular quality of alpine afternoon, is the light that still falls through these windows every evening.
We have tried to care for this apartment the way we care for our own work. Thoughtfully, with attention to the details that accumulate into something larger than themselves. We hope that when you arrive, you feel that.
And we hope the valley gives you what it has always given the people who find their way here.
